Tico Electronics was established in Costa Rica in the mid-1990s with a small start-up capital. The company was one of the first companies dedicated to advanced manufacturing in Costa Rica and from its beginnings contributed to the political and social stability of the country and its focus on education.
Following a high value-added manufacturing strategy, Tico Electronics is now a recognized supply chain partner for the aerospace and medical industries, developing complex processes thanks to local talent combined with world-class technologies.
Tico Electronics started as a contract manufacturer of printed circuit boards, while at the same time offering employment opportunities to single mothers and highly vulnerable people in the Coyol area.
By 1999, the company attracted the attention of a leading manufacturer specialized in motor drive systems, which led to an important and long-lasting business partnership that contributed greatly to the growth of both companies.
In 2003, Tico Electronics obtained ISO 9001 accreditation and IPC-A-610 Class 3 certification with a Spatial Addendum. Later, in 2013, they accomplished the remarkable achievement of becoming the first company in Central America to receive NADCAP Accreditation for TIG welding.
In 2014, the company expanded to a second building and began the implementation of Lean methodology and Six Sigma (Green belt) training for all company managers. In 2016, Tico Electronics reached another milestone, becoming the first company in Central America to obtain AS9100 certification.
