Martec is a world-class provider of sustainable seafood products and a global leader in the production of Pink Snapper (Lutjanus guttatus). It is the largest exporter of wild-caught fish in Costa Rica.
They employ approximately 450 people.
In Costa Rica, they are located in:
- Quepos: headquarters, processing plant, and ocean concession
- Playa Bejuco: laboratory and hatchery
- Puntarenas: fish supply
Martec has a vertically integrated production of Pink Snapper, from larvae to plate-sized fish, cultivated off the coast of Quepos. They currently cultivate around 3 million snappers, evolving from fry to 500 grams, in 21 cages with a depth of 33 feet.
Additionally, in 2022, Martec acquired the national company Aquacorporación, which is dedicated to tilapia production in Guanacaste.
