Aircraft Maintenance Company Announces Commencement of Operations in Pérez Zeledón
It’s the first company outside the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM) in the country to offer maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for the aeronautical industry.
Pérez Zeledón, October 13, 2023. Pérez Zeledón, a region outside the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM), was chosen by the American company Global Technik Corp (GTC) for its establishment in Costa Rica. GTC is a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services firm for the aeronautical industry with over 40 years of experience in the sector.
GTC is the first company outside the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM) in the country to offer a wide range of solutions in the electrical and mechanical aspects of aircraft, opening opportunities for a new generation of professionals in this field.
“The highly skilled personnel of Global Technik is the cornerstone of the company. For this reason, we chose to establish our operation in Costa Rica because we know the country has specialized talent that can contribute and grow within our company. Additionally, the country offers a strong value proposition that inspires confidence in our investment, which, in the initial phase, is around $250,000,” said Óscar Espinal, President and CEO of GTC.
“We welcome Global Technik Corp and appreciate their trust in our country and human talent. We are excited to see that it is such a specialized industry, diversifying the type of investment we are attracting, and that it is establishing itself in Pérez Zeledón, becoming a source of employment and knowledge for the area,” said Manuel Tovar, Minister of Foreign Trade.
Laura López, General Manager of PROCOMER, added that one of the priorities of PROCOMER’s foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction strategy is to create employment and linkages outside the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM). “We celebrate the arrival of Global Technik Corp to our country for the contributions that companies like this make to exports, linkages, and, most importantly, the creation of more high-quality employment opportunities and development outside the GAM. From the Foreign Trade sector, we remain committed to accelerating opportunities and ensuring that the benefits of the investment reach more Costa Ricans in all regions of the country.”
As part of its capabilities, GCT offers comprehensive support for fleets, 24-hour ground aircraft service, global distribution, cargo transportation, warranty management, asset management, repair management, airport pickup and delivery, customs clearance, document control, import and export, parts consolidation, shipping and receiving, among others.
In the initial phase, the company will invest $250,000 in the construction of the repair facility in Pérez Zeledón and employ around 10 people, a number expected to increase by 200% in the next five years.
Global Technik was founded in the United States as a company dedicated to the sale and repair of aeronautical components. It holds FAA and EASA certifications.
