ITEK, in partnership with TMA, opens new facility in Alajuela to strengthen logistics support for medical and advanced manufacturing industries

  • Companies expands their presence and support capabilities in Costa Rica

San José, Costa Rica, May 29, 2026. ITEK, in partnership with TMA, inaugurated a new storage and logistics facility this Thursday at Parque CLI, located in El Coyol, Alajuela. From this site, the company will provide operational and logistics services to medical device and advanced manufacturing companies established in Costa Rica.

The new facility will focus on delivering specialized operational and logistics support, particularly in the handling of plastic resins and polymer materials, chemicals and technical supplies, components, packaging, auxiliary materials, and MRO (maintenance, repair and operations) supplies used by exporting and advanced manufacturing companies. Additionally, ITEK / TMA will offer services including storage, inventory control, digital traceability, documentation, and logistics coordination for highly regulated industries.

“This inauguration represents a milestone of national merit. We are two Costa Rican companies that, through hard work and mutual support, have risen to compete at the highest global level. By combining ITEK’s IT infrastructure and operational excellence with TMA’s continuous improvement culture powered by Artificial Intelligence, we create a unique platform that eliminates friction, reduces risks, and brings predictability to the medical cluster’s supply chain. Furthermore, this alliance is born with a vision of regional impact, with Coyol serving as the starting point for future geographic expansions”, stated Bernal Rodríguez, CEO of ITEK, and Johan Porras, Chief Financial Officer of TMA.

As part of this new operation, the company expects to create approximately 10 new jobs during the initial phase, with plans for progressive workforce growth as operations expand. The company is seeking professionals specialized in inventory management and ERP/WMS systems, personnel with experience in foreign trade and Free Trade Zone regulations, operators for regulated environments, and profiles focused on operational logistics and corporate customer support.

“Costa Rica has continued to strengthen increasingly sophisticated advanced manufacturing, where attracting new operations is only part of the equation. It is equally important to reinforce the network of suppliers and specialized services that sustain the competitiveness of these industries. Operations such as ITEK’s, in partnership with TMA, contribute directly to strengthening those support capabilities around highly regulated and strategic sectors for the country. This becomes even more relevant at a time when multinational companies continue expanding and increasing the sophistication of their operations in Costa Rica, particularly in areas linked to services, advanced manufacturing, and specialized technologies”, said Laura López, CEO of the Trade and Investment Promotion Agency of Costa Rica.

The opening of this new operation in Alajuela takes place in one of the regions expected to concentrate a significant portion of the future growth of Costa Rica’s medical device and advanced manufacturing industries, particularly around Coyol, Grecia, and other industrial hubs in the province, where companies linked to medical devices and specialized technologies continue to establish operations.
