San José, August 6, 2026 – Costa Rica continues to strengthen its standing as one of the most competitive destinations for high-value foreign direct investment as it welcomes the launch of Newmont’s Global Delivery Center (GDC). The operation is projected to generate 400 specialized jobs by the end of 2026 and further enhance Costa Rica’s position as a center of excellence for delivering global corporate services. Headquartered in Denver, USA, Newmont manages operations across 8 countries and employs a global workforce of more than 45,000 people.
Located in Heredia and operating under Costa Rica’s Free Trade Zone Regime, the Global Delivery Center began operations this year and brings together services and capabilities across key support functions that enable Newmont’s global teams and operations.
The Global Delivery Center was established following Newmont’s evaluation of potential global locations, with Costa Rica offering a well-established corporate services ecosystem, multilingual talent base and stable business environment.
The operation incorporates specialized professionals in areas across finance, people, commercial and broader support areas. The workforce includes analysts, team leaders, and functional specialists who provide dedicated support to Newmont’s business units worldwide.
Indiana Trejos, Costa Rica’s Minister of Foreign Trade, welcomed Newmont’s investment and highlighted its importance for the country’s continued development as a destination for high-value business services.
“We congratulate Newmont on this important milestone and thank the company for the confidence it has placed in Costa Rica by establishing its Global Delivery Center. This decision reflects the international recognition of Costa Rican talent, the stability of our business environment, and the strategy we have pursued to attract high-value foreign direct investment. Projects like this create specialized employment opportunities, strengthen our business services sector, and contribute to the development of an increasingly sophisticated economy,” said Trejos.
Laura López, Chief Executive Officer of the Trade and Investment Promotion Agency of Costa Rica (PROCOMER), highlighted the evolution of Costa Rica’s corporate services ecosystem and the country’s ability to attract increasingly sophisticated global operations.
“Today, Costa Rica is home to companies performing functions across 18 corporate service areas, including highly specialized capabilities such as data analytics, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. This level of sophistication enables us to attract operations like Newmont’s, generate high-quality employment and reflect the remarkable evolution of Costa Rica’s business services ecosystem. These are the types of investments we will continue to pursue because they strengthen local talent and generate greater value for our economy,” said López.
Kristian Bruce, Head, Global Delivery Center, emphasized that the Global Delivery Center will strengthen Newmont’s ability to deliver specialized services to teams around the world.
“We found in Costa Rica a highly competitive ecosystem that enables us to further strengthen our operations. The quality of talent, multilingual capabilities, and the country’s extensive experience in corporate services allow us to develop strategic processes here that support our teams around the world. Our vision is to continue establishing this Global Delivery Center as an operation of excellence that creates value for Newmont while generating opportunities for Costa Rican talent,” said Bruce.
In addition to creating specialized employment opportunities, the company will continue strengthening relationships with local suppliers and advancing talent development initiatives. These efforts include an internship program for technical high school students planned for 2027, as well as corporate volunteer projects led by employees.
The establishment of this Global Delivery Center further strengthens the continued growth of Costa Rica’s business services investment ecosystem and reinforces the country’s position as one of the most competitive destinations for high-value global corporate operations.
