Our participation in this fair, together with the ICT and the companies comprising the national delegation, will set a precedent for Costa Rica in terms of attracting investments, especially to bring more opportunities for employment and well-being to different areas of our country and for the Costa Ricans who live there. For us, it is extremely important that this sector continue to strengthen itself in the country, as it is an engine for development and employment for many places outside the Greater Metropolitan Area,&#8221; commented Laura L\u00f3pez, General Manager of PROCOMER.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agreement, signed at the end of last year, also makes it possible to follow up on reinvestment opportunities for tourism infrastructure and the services associated with the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, the fair \u2013 considered one of the most important global tourism business events, which opens the international tourist fair calendar \u2013 takes place from January 24 to 28 in the IFEMA fair exhibition venue in Madrid, Spain, and is considered a record edition, as it brings together 9,000 participating companies, 152 countries and 806 exhibitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Tourism is a driving force for progress and this commitment between ICT and PROCOMER reflects the joint commitment to contribute to the sustainable development and well-being of several local communities by attracting foreign direct investment. We coordinated a strategy to generate employment, diversify the tourism offering and the production linkages in keeping with the country&#8217;s tourism development model,&#8221; said William Rodr\u00edguez, Minister of Tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The country is represented by 39 companies engaged in the sector through the&nbsp;<em>Esencial<\/em>&nbsp;Costa Rica booth, in which they showcase the best of local tourism, strengthen current connections, and promote new investment linkages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our country is a prestigious, established tourist destination globally.
